3. Neighborhood Pranks Are Encouraged

One of the loudest components of the festival is the daily event called la Mascleta. Translated as “concert of gunpowder” this activity begins at 2pm and pits neighborhoods against each other to compete for the most impressive display. The daily event ends with the terremoto which is hundreds of firecrackers exploding simultaneously.
