You certainly don’t want to find yourself halfway across the world on a most undesirable trip. Remember, vacations are meant to be relaxing, so don’t turn your special getaway into something that requires too much effort. Instead, go with the flow, take certain steps to ensure it’s romantic, and most of all have some fun.

The first tip you need to follow is telling your special someone where you’re going. As romantic as it may seem to surprise your loved one with a vacation, he or she may hate the place you’re planning on traveling to, and you don’t want this to happen. If you absolutely want to make the vacation a surprise, start asking months in advance where he or she would like to go and then base your vacation on one of his or her preferences.

The second tip for you to follow is to do plenty of research on the place that you end up choosing to travel to. As you conduct your research, make sure you look up online all the romantic hotspots found in and near your city of vacation. Keep in mind the things that your special someone likes. If he or she hates being near the water, it’ll be best to avoid going to the ocean to have a picnic. Always plan things that you know will peak his or her interest. For example, if he or she enjoys hiking, it would be romantic to plan a hiking day in which the two of you go off the trails a bit and have a picnic.

It’s always a good idea to search out romantic restaurants while you’re on vacation. Make reservations well in advance, and don’t tell your special someone. Making reservations at a romantic restaurant is always a great surprise that is sure to please your special someone. You may even find that it helps you to get lucky when you go back to your hotel. After all, a romantic vacation should be all about the love-making, right?

When you make the restaurant reservation, remember the kinds of food that your loved one likes. Don’t book a reservation at a Mexican restaurant if he or she hates Mexican food. Even if the restaurant is renowned for being romantic, take a moment and think to yourself whether or not your special someone likes the kind of food the restaurant serves.

Lastly, a great tip for you to follow to keep the romance alive on your vacation is asking hotel and restaurant staff for help. For example, having hotel staff spread rose petals over the hotel room floor is a sure way to impress. Arranging special dinners on a private terrace is also a great way to show your special someone you have what it takes to be romantic. As said before, vacations are meant to be relaxing. Don’t let romance become a chore. Instead, allow yourself plenty of time to plan out a few romantic gestures, and if something doesn’t work out, don’t let it get you down.
