2. Go With Major Chains (Usually)

I made the mistake once of choosing a lower-end hotel (to save money) and my opening paragraph explains the results I got. This may not happen all the time, but for some reason, I really picked a loser. They seemed to be out of everything, the pool didn’t work, there was no ice…I could go on and on, but I won’t. Instead, I’ll just remind you to make a rule to go for major chains, as they have the biggest reputation to defend so they will usually have standards they live up to and a formal complaint process if you are dissatisfied.
