10. Middle and Far East

Showing your feet and in particular pointing them at someone (for example putting them up) is considered extremely rude. In particular it is the sole of one’s foot that is offensive. Never sit with your legs crossed and foot balancing on your knee. It’s almost considered rude if you touch somebody with your shoe. You’ll find that in a lot of Middle Eastern and Far East homes, guests are asked to take their shoes off upon entering.
