The Fiesta began as a celebration for the working class of people and has managed to stay very much an event for working people throughout the years. The rich and social elite of Valencia have been known to ditch town during Las Fallas, since it is too loud and rambunctious so suit their delicate sensibilities, and in fact this still rings true in the present day. Many of the rich and members of high society still find this the perfect time to high-tail it out of town.
