8. The Dead Sea

It appears that the Dead Sea is actually dying. A project called the “Red-Dead” is channeling the Red Sea to flow into the evaporating Dead Sea. The problem here is that this compromises the ecosystem of the already fragile Dead Sea. Unfortunately, if nothing else happens, the Dead Sea will continue to sink at a rate of three feet per year due to evaporation of its salty waters. By 2055 the Dead Sea is expected to be completely gone without some aid.
